In my mind, there's not much better than a good lunch. I want to be able to go somewhere where I can get a good, hearty, healthy meal for a good price. This is what the Good Table does. I can tell where it gets it's name. The food isn't out if this world, but it's good. Dare I say, REALLY good. They have a large array of sandwiches... The pulled pork is excellent and the buffalo chicken wrap and lobster roll are for sure favorites. If this place knows how to do anything really well, it's the fries. They have regular fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings- all of which are amazing. I'm a huge fan of the Good Table and will continue to frequent, as it's very close to my workplace. Good food for a good price- you really can't beat that!

Pros: Looks very elegant Cons: Staff is indifferent. Food took forever and service was sporadic to non-existent....we had a party of 8 and our breakfast came out over a 30 minute period...I never received a coffee refill until I asked....asked for Raspberry Pancakes, got Blueberry, my son ordered a coffee roll which came out 30mins after....side order of eggs came out 30 mins later...potatoes were cold.. If you are a yuppie or pretentious (picture sweater wrapped around neck) and money ISO object then come right in...if you want excellent food from a staff that care go to a local blue collar diner...and if you have kids, forget it.

I decided to try my first ever lobster roll here. The fries were crispy but the roll was mediocre and not toasted as per the menu states. The lobster was very fishy and almost unbearable to eat near the end. Definitely not worth the $18 price tag (which they don't list unlike other places we visited). The clam chowder was broth based instead of cream based so flavor wise it was alright but they should really specify this on the menu as I have only ever had cream based clam chowder and for the money, it was overpriced. My boyfriend tried the fish and chips and he said it was the worst fish and chips he's ever had. The fish had absolutely zero flavor to it. Also, service was very slow despite not being incredibly busy. We won't be eating here again as the food was mediocre and the lobster roll almost had me vomiting. Edit: had a lobster roll that was superior in every way imaginable to this one and was a few dollars cheaper. Won't be eating here again.

A Seat at the Table While in the area, we were told to try the Good Table for lunch. It was a hit & miss affair. Fish & Chips: local caught haddock, large portion and excellent fries. Tuna wrap: Fair, but, it was tuna. The local deserts looked fabulous with featured fruit from the farm across the street. A mixed effort here, I am sure they can do better.

They only serve cinnamon rolls on Sunday. They only serve cinnamon rolls on Sunday. THEY ONLY SERVE CINNAMON ROLLS ON SUNDAY! So, if you've heard about their infamous cinnamon rolls and are craving one Monday through Saturday, tough luck. Also, they very strictly enforce the breakfast/lunch menu differential (which is important to note because they really do take it very seriously here). Now, why the quiche is ONLY on the lunch menu seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Granted, when we came we were there late enough that they would have served me a piece, but the only option they had available was a meat filled one. Not sure why they didn't have a vegetarian option, as well - that's a whole demographic that isn't being catered to (and, let's face it, quiche is not that hard to make or whip together). In the end, seriously let down by my choices, I went with the "tasty homefries" (that's how they were listed), and the Belgian waffles topped with blueberries and an almond-ginger butter. 1) The "tasty homefries": falsely advertised, my friends. They were generic at best. Each potato chunk (best way to describe how they were cut) was different sized, there was no seasoning whatsoever (side note: the salt was CAKED inside the lid, so it wouldn't come out - kinda gross), and they were a little on the greasy side. 2) The Belgian waffles: I admit, the waffles were totally and utterly perfect, but the almond-ginger butter was weak in flavor. I couldn't taste any almond or ginger (as a ginger lover I was hoping for some zing) in it. The blueberries were bountiful, though, and I appreciated the summery/Maine feeling to it. But all in all, for now, I'd have to say... "meh, I've experienced better". Don't get me wrong the service and space were both impeccable. The servers were thoughtful, consistent, and patient with my deluge of questions. The atmosphere feels homey yet classy (I positively loved sitting in the screened in room in the back where I could watch the birds at the feeder - if I closed my eyes, I could have been sitting at the kitchen table of my grandparent's summer home at Sebago like I was ten again - AMAZING!). But, given the (what I personally feel is a serious) lack of quality vegetarian choices, I can't see myself necessarily coming back here unless it was a Sunday so I could try the cinnamon rolls and I called ahead to see if they had a vegetarian quiche option, too. But then, with so many other brunch options to discover and explore on a Sunday in Portlandtown, its hard to want to come back here until some of those have been eaten at first!

3.5 stars for food itself but 4 stars for the adorable decoration and homey-ness. Kind of the perfect "home" away from home if you want to feel like you're dining in someones house while chowing down on tasty foods. At around 9:30am on a Saturday, the place was already bustling with patrons. There was no wait for two and we promptly seated ourselves in the indoor back porch area where there was plenty of sun. Maybe it was because we were out in the back, but we were "forgotten" quite a few times. It took a long time to get our orders taken, for coffee refills, and even to get the check, but that also means you get to sit 'n relax without any pressure. I totally love the freshly baked muffins. THey'll slice the muffins in half and throw 'em on the buttered grill for you if that's what you life. We went for the morning glory muffing - a carrot muffin without the icing. It was light on the carrots and raisins, but still flavorful. My salmon eggs benedict was great, and eggs poached to perfection. Portions were a little on the smaller side, but just enough for someone who isn't ravenous. Wish I could have gotten a little more breakfast potato, but I also love potatoes. The boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash and was real happy with his dish. Portions were much grander on his plate also. Love the casual, homey atmosphere of this place and will be back for a laid back brunch again. Dinner menu looked more on the fancy side (price-wise). Ordering the Grilled muffin is totally necessary! (They also have gluten free option of a blueberry muffin too!)

Popped in here for my last meal before heading back home to London. It was a very lively bustling place, filled with Sunday brunchers. The restaurant was a bit warm inside but had a very nice atmosphere aside from that. They had a nice big patio in the back which was unfortunately full, but would have been a nice place to eat.I was excited to hear they offered sweet potato fries, something I have had trouble finding in the UK, so I was happy as a clam to get them for my final American meal. I had the fish sandwich which was very tasty. The fish was piping hot and the fries were everything I had hoped for. I wish they would have had a few more vegetable side dishes besides fries and coleslaw... but overall I was content. I wish I had the appetite to order one of the massive cinnamon rolls.. I guess that means I will have to go back!

Wifey texted on her way home from her overnight shift at the hospital and suggested going to breakfast. Our rule is that whomever invites, pays; so of course I said yes. She suggested The Good Table, as we recently moved to the more immediate area (Higgins Beach). We'd been there before, for lunch, and was not wowed. As noted in other reviews, word-of-mouth would suggest this is a Michelin Star restaurant; and while better than average, it's not to those standards. That's not to say that we won't be back, however. We'd heard that breakfast is the best option here, so we were excited - and not disappointed. Wifey & daughter ordered pancakes (blueberry and chocolate chip, respectively); safe bets anywhere. And they were good - huge & fluffy. Now, I ordered the lobster Benedict. I posted a picture of it to the restaurant's Yelp page. It was delicious. Tons of lobster and a rich, lemony Hollandaise that may the best I've had in the area. The yolk was nice & runny. I pretty much devoured it like the hungry pig I was (am?). The other breakfast options looked inviting as well, including the banana & walnut pancakes, which I'm told they are famous for. Next Sunday, maybe. Service was friendly; we arrived at 8:15am; soon after opening, so they were not yet too busy - but they did fill up quickly. The sunny front porch looked like a great spot to sit & have a couple cups of coffee, but we had more to do. Again, maybe next Sunday. So we will for sure be returning for breakfast, and maybe dinner eventually (we like to cook dinner at home). Another fun thing about The Good Table - we had Lucky Charms coffee mugs. I posted a photo of mine. Ask for them by name! ;-) OH - as it was Sunday, we did get a cinnamon roll to go - and it was good. The roll itself was better than the icing - tasted too much like regular canned cake icing.

Wonderfully quaint with good food I'd say is somewhat of a fusion of gourmet and homestyle. Desserts are very popular and there's a reason for that, they're good. Very, very good. Reservations are difficult to come by most of the time and I have to say that locals who want to visit on the fly are generally out of luck. But that's par for the course here in Coastal Maine. Overall, a good place, off the beaten path but well worth the trip.

My husband and I made reservations here for Valentine's Day dinner last night. We had pork belly and brussel sprouts for an appetizer. Wow! I never thought I could like brussel sprouts! So good. I felt my bacon wrapped filet and mashed potatoes lacked salt but it was still very good. The desserts though.... strawberry tiramisu and chocolate torte. Out of this world! We will definitely be visiting The Good Table again very soon!

So I should reference that we drove up to grab their well-renowned brunch but alas, we missed it by 10 minutes (it should be noted that brunch ends at noon here and they won't serve brunch even if you're 10 minutes late for it). Instead, we had their sandwiches which were just sandwiches. Nothing special or memorable about their lunch menu but we're definitely going to come back for breakfast! Oh, I will say that the apple pie was really tasty and almost made up for the lackluster sandwiches.

Kind of wish breakfast ran 24/7 here, but alas. We got here at 11:10am on a weekday and were told breakfast was o-v-e-r and ends at 11am. Wah! That's not the reason for four stars instead of five though. I thought service was friendly and attentive, and our food (open faced turkey sandwich for me and 1/2 (turkey) sandwich and soup (clam chowder, I think), was good but nothing crazy spectacular. I always kind of hate when you order a sandwich, and the bread isn't toasted. Makes me think and feel like I'm in high school eating a sandwich that's been sitting in my locker. Soft bread *cringe* - it should just be a given that all regular sandwich bread is toasted, especially if I have to pay you to make it for me. I ate every bit of my turkey/thanksgiving like meal, but it could have been seasoned a touch more. It didn't matter so much that mine wasn't toasted since it was covered with turkey, stuffing, and gravy - but I knew that soft bread was lurking underneath. Vibe was casual, friendly, quiet and the prices were right. I'd come back if we ever happened to be in Cape Elizabeth again, but would make sure it was early enough for breakfast!

Daughter, 2yo grandson and I had fabulous Mothers' Day meals here. They did not take reservations, but wait was only about 20 minutes. Front porch and grounds made the wait very pleasant. Service was great, attentive and courteous, very mindful of the toddler with us. Drinks and meals were delicious. Complimentary long stem rose was an unexpected special touch for each mom. The Good Table has been a favorite of ours for brunch, lunch or dinner. They never disappoint.

Amazing food! Went for brunch and got Julia's Breakfast Burrito. The meat inside is angus beef and was seasoned to perfection. Home fries were the best I've ever had. I was told to get the cinnamon roll but I didn't think they were anything special. Our waitress could have been better, but overall the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food came out in literally 10 minutes. I would absolutely go back

The So.Po. area's best dining by far. I've had two excellent meals here to date. Sunday brunch in particular was exceptionally good, one of the best Eggs Benedict I've ever been served. The owner who is also the host, was on hand both times to welcome us and personally read us the daily specials. Her smiling, friendly presence is welcome, and adds a homey ambiance to the dining experience. Everything is prepared with loving care. The dishes are not pretentious, just artfully created and tastefully presented. Generous portion sizes all around. I would be remiss not to mention their expert bar staff, who mix real drinks from scratch the old fashioned way.

This place was awesome! Camped out here for a couple of hours, drinking Bloody Mary's and other "acceptable" morning-ish beverages. Ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, which was delicious. The Bloody's we're fantastic too. Fiancé ordered the burger, which was just ok but the fries were great. We all split a giant cinnamon roll - it was out of this world. Mostly though, the manager was hilarious and made our whole meal 10x better with her quick wit and hilarious jabs at our hungover friends. We were actually sad when her shift ended and she had to leave! Overall - great food, staff, and drinks!!

The Good Table is a must try if you are in the area. I have only been for breakfast, but am planning on joining them for dinner one night this summer. The building itself is so cute and homey. The farmers porch welcomes you with planters of fresh flowers and a chalkboard teasing you with their pie of the day. Inside the decor is simple, clean, with a fun vintage flair. At breakfast they always play classic oldies music which creates a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is family owned and many menu items have a Greek flair. The way the owner describes the daily specials makes you want to try a bite of them all. This weekend they were offering French toast made with their famous cinnamon buns. Let's talk about the cinnamon buns...they are the reason I keep coming back. Only available on Sundays though! We were lucky to have a tray just coming out of the oven as we placed our order upon sitting down. The cinnamon bun arrived in all it's massive glory, filling the plate. The warm sugary glaze spilling down over the sides and onto the plate. Seeing one coming your way is just as exciting as the first time. After attacking some of the glaze spillage, you cut into the bun and cinnamon steam wafts up and is a total sensory experience. Inside the bun itself are soft raisins and cinnamon swirls. Taking a perfect bite means getting a little bit of the soft doughy center, a crusty edge, and a swirl of sweet glaze. Beyond the cinnamon buns, the rest of the menu is tasty too. To be honest, I'm not a huge breakfast person in general. My husband adores the corned beef hash. Portions are more than generous. I can never even make a dent in my meal after the cinnamon bun! One of my only complaints, and it's not a big one, is that they have cream on the table in the packaged little cups. I would also love to see some lunch-ish options on the breakfast menu for later weekend dining. All other things aside, that cinnamon bun is what will keep me coming back again and again. On a past visit, I heard the owner talking about how they source ingredients from a local farm. The friendly staff, locally farmed ingredients, and relaxed but classy atmosphere make The Good Table a Maine staple!

I had my first visit to The Good Table on a Thursday around 10:30 am, and was joined for brunch by the fabulous Yelp Queen- Steff. It was a beautiful day outside and since I arrived first I had time to sit on the quaint front porch and relax. It's a cute porch but the view is just parking lot and a road. Once Steff arrived we were given our choice of seating since it wasn't very busy. Then it happened.... We asked for the huge cinnamon rolls that we were both craving and were told they were only served on the weekend!! What the? One star automatically deducted!! After the shock wore off I decided on OJ, blueberrry pancakes, and homefries and Steff chose coffee, a waffle, and homefries. My pancakes were tasty and filled with tons of Maine blueberries, home fries were crispy. The server was nice, and our food was served quickly. The portions were large and prices reasonable. I enjoyed my brunch, but it was just ok? Nothing spectacular and nothing terrible. I might return on the weekend so I can try one of those famous cinnamon rolls?? We will see.

I happened across this place while lighthouse hunting. It was right off the highway and was quite inviting (and got me out of the rain). I ordered a cinnamon muffin (roll) and the lobster eggs Benedict. I'm a huge fan of eggs beni, but had never had it with lobster. It was the best eggs beni I've ever had!! Sauce was great, eggs poached perfectly, muffin toasted just right. It was outstanding!! The staff was very friendly as well. The only reason I gave four stars is they were a little slow on the coffee. (I passed up a gruyere & asparagus omelette and creme brûlée French toast. Those both sounded amazing also. If only I had a bigger stomach...)

This is my second time visiting this restaurant, and my second has proven to be just as delicious. Last night I went in a single diner and ordered the baked brie as an appetizer and a prime rib burger. The cheese, with the sugared cranberries and pears was perfect. It was hot, yet not enough to burn the inside of the mouth. The wedge of cheese itself was a good quality creamy brie. Two orders of this could have been an entire meal for me. Shortly thereafter, the prime rib burger (medium well) came out. The burger itself was smaller than I expected and the plate was rounded out with homemade onion rings. However, the taste was phenomenal! The burger was juicy and cooked and seasoned perfectly. The service itself was attentive but not overbearing. The server was friendly. Parking was free. I highly reccomend this place as one of the best I have had in the Portland, ME area. It is one I will certainly come back to when returning to the area!

Nothing fancy, hip, or over the top, The Good Table is just a nice, clean, organized restaurant with a long list of daily specials and fresh food. We have eaten dinner here many times and keep coming back. I love the steaming hot bread brought to the table with good herb olive oil. Most recently my husband had fried clams over fried green tomato. All was fresh and good. I love their salads and that they often use produce from local farmers. They also have kickass blueberry pie. This is a good place to come as a couple, with friends, or with parents. I like that the front dining room tends to be a bit more middle aged and the back room tends to be more families with kids. This might not be intentional, perhaps just how I perceived it each time I have been there, but it is a fantastic idea that works well.

We live a few miles away from this restaurant and have been "at the Table" for years. It is consistently excellant and affordable. There's a nice big screened room for the summer. In the winter it's cozy. The staff is first class. The menu has me arguing with myself. It's that good and varied.

Our New Year's Eve dinner at the good table exceeded all our expectations The Resturant was decorated beautifully and chef/owner Lisa greeted everyone with a glass of champagne There was a special menu with treats from the chef to tempt us Special menu included rack of lamb, jumbo stuffed shrimp, duck 3 ways ..., all were great Oh and oysters to start-- wow The dessert lemon pudding cake, chocolate raspberry torte and Choc and vanilla creme brûlée together on one plate WOW BUT giving my 90 year old mother a white rose from the table bouquet -- perfect Well done Lisa

When you score a find like Good Table, you are torn as to whether to share it or horde it. Given that I am only in Maine for a few days, sharing it seems like the safe and gentle thing to do. If I don't, how will you score your own delicious breakfast? The service was ON, and that's no small deal given the opening crowd of breakfast diners waiting to descend upon Good Table. However, with calm and flow, the staff got us our orders. We know that we breakfast diners can be notoriously impatient whilst awaiting our first coffee of the day. I purposefully looked at facial expressions to see that no one was flustered, not even our server. Nicely done! Now, the food: I ordered the Farmers' Omelette with spinach, tomato and feta. This is typically my 'go to' hangover breakfast, and I've had a few in my day. However, this one left the others lagging well behind in the race. The spinach was fresh and abundant, the eggs perfectly cooked and fluffy, and the feta (I believe) homemade. Each ingredient was discernible, yet wonderfully melded. Wow, all this poetry for an omelette. Yup, it was that good. My dining partner had the hash which is also housemade and smacked of pure corned beef goodness. 'No can' is how it is advertised, and the only can I could sense was, "Can I have more, please?" We have one more day here in Maine, and I can tell you where I'll be at 8:00 AM tomorrow...Good Table. Good choice!

Solid breakfast. Kind of out of the way of Portland proper, but close to the Portland Head Light, which you should see. Really good home fries. The salsa on my burrito had a lot of Mediterranean flavor versus Mexican which was unexpected and nice. My partner judges all breakfast places by their eggs Benedict and she says this is in the top 30% of all the ones she's tried. Nicely poached eggs, but the hollandaise was too lemony and under seasoned. We got a cinnamon roll right out of the oven and it was enormous and lovely. Very friendly staff.

Disappointed in price for eggs Benny with asparagus- $14. -- Yes, it was good but asked to substitute meat for asparagus and cost me $4 bucks! Italian villa is great choice - more reasonably priced too. Never too much of a wait. Good local spot.

We had a great breakfast this morning at The Good Table. The french toast was delicious and the coffee was perfect. I had the cinnamon roll which was ENORMOUS and delicious. The service was very friendly and fast. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back when I am back in town. The only limitation are the limited hours of operation.

You can see from my husband (Sam S.'s) review that this place is a delight. Being so far out towards Cape Elizabeth means you have to WANT to go if you live closer to Portland, but it's a trip well worth the cost of gas. There are often crowds on weekends and daily specials help explain that. My veggie burrito was wonderful and was completely finished despite my post gastric bypass eating capacity. This place fits the pattern of most quality eateries in Maine. Having lived there 20 of my 28 year life, I can tell you this is one of the standard bearers for quality meals as an outing experiance.

The highlight of this small, but comfortable restaurant is their weekend brunch menu. And the cream of the crop, with no doubt, of the brunch menu is their cinnamon bun. It's not even that it comes smothered in gooey, delicious frosting or that it's big enough to feed a family of four. No, it's the way that their hostess (if you have the pleasure of having her introduce the specials to you, you know of whom I mean) describes this delectable treat to you that makes your mouth water. I had the pleasure of having her seat me the very first time I visited. She was so inviting, it made me excited to be a guest there. The very best service in Portland. Food was good. Not the best, but not bad. Great coffee. Decent prices. Mimosas were tart and tasty. The waitstaff is OK, not the caliber of their host but timely and friendly. Lunch menu is a bit flat. Have yet to enjoy their dinner fare, but a peek at the menu tells me it would be worth a try. Overall, a solid restaurant. Great brunch destination. Great for a family get together, with a very homey back room.

Mussels were good but not great. Roasted pear and cheese was surprisingly cold. Haddock was baked with crumbled Ritz crackers. It was decent but nothing special. When she came to tell us the specials, the waitress said she would explain them to us (a couple on a date) and the table seated behind us (a family of four) at the same time. This was uncomfortable and unexpected and so, preferring our privacy and allowing the family theirs, we declined to hear the specials. Given the number of high quality restaurants in southern Maine, I would not recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I have been going to the Good Table for a long time. We used to enjoy their Sunday evening supper deals in the winter. We , one morning, went for brunch. I asked for soft poached with my eggs Benedict. When it came to the table The eggs were very hard . It was difficult to get a hold of our waitress . When she finally came, her response to the way my eggs were done was nothing less than rude and unhelpful . After brunch I left a note of my concern along with my phone number and name. I never got a call back . Why bother giving out comment cards if you don't intend on responding. There are too many places for brunch that will not take for granted the fact that we are the consumer and the greater Portland area is NOT that big. The Good Table is off our list forever.

Last week I didn't like the ribs at Elsmere, so tonight I decided to try them a at my favorite "local" spot and they were fabulous! Full of meat and falling off the bone they were accompanied by fries and slaw. I sure didn't need the carrot cake, but it too was a big enough serving for 2. I love this place!

It was recommended that we go to the Two Lights Lobster Shack, but when we saw what a tourist trap this was (and the fact they don't serve beer and wine) we went onto Yelp and found The Good Table. What a delight!!! The owner is Greek and has a great iPod selection playing in the restaurant. We sat and had lunch at the bar and the staff was extremely friendly and fun. I had Sangria and my husband opted for a draft beer. The have a full bar and a tasty menu of cocktails. Very cute place with both indoor and outdoor seating. We started with a cup of clam chowder and it was some of the best I have ever had. For entrees, I had the lobster cobb and my husband the lobster roll and both were very good. I would tell anyone to skip the tourist traps and dine here!!!

I would love to give this restaurant more stars because the food was excellent and a nice interesting menu, however, the wait staff was atrocious. We stopped here after a morning at the Portlandhead Light enroute to the beach for lunch. We were greeted by the pleasant hostess, given menus and told to pick our own seats. We choose the back room which is a 3 season porch overlooking the woods either bird feeders, a very nice room. However, here is where the troubles started. No one came to our table, stopped by to say be right with you. Instead, the bus staff was busy cleaning tables, changing the chalkboard daily menu board and in general skittering about. One waitress seemed to be waiting on the tables in the back room, but ignored us and stopped making eye contact with me after several trips back and forth past our table. No water served, no acknowledgement that we were waiting for service. Other patrons were seated themselves after us and were having at least drink orders taken. Finally a woman came and shared the specials menu with us between our table and the one next to us- but all she did was recite the menu written on the chalkboard right behind us. Finally after 15-20 minutes, water was served with no comment from bus staff and finally a waitress appeared, did not introduce herself, offer any apology or explanation of the slow service and asked if we were ready to order. We had a couple of questions about the menu which she was not able to answer- ie quiche of the day- and finally asked if we wanted anything to drink. Too late, we stuck with the water served but all in our party agreed we would have ordered something else to drink if we had been asked soon after sitting down. The upside is the food came fast, and was very tasty. My daughter had the quiche of the day, I had the tart special and my husband had a turkey sandwich. The food was delicious, fresh and creative. Our waitress never came by our table again until we were done and wanted the check. We paid cash so we didn't have to wait any longer for credit card receipt. My honest thoughts are the hostess needs to seat patrons to keep control of the tables and staffing by keeping it distributed. Also when we left, she was not at the door and an older couple was there and seemed unsure what they should do. And in my opinion, the hostess should be there to see you out as well as greeting you. Food delicious but the service is horrific.

My wife and I have had a few great meals here and it's time to review them. Friendly staff and good service. Prices were reasonable. Now I need to go back for breakfast and try the corned beef hash, which I have been told is amazing. As I our most recent meal, my wife had the mussels app. Great white wine and garlic sauce. Very fresh mussels. Her lobster dinner was also great. Better than most lobsters, and she is a lobster aficionado. Well cooked, and just good. She enjoyed the slaw, and the fries were hot and crispy. I got the clam chowder and loved it. Not as thick as most, but it was felt rah and delicious and full of clams and potato. A great starter. I then enjoyed the broiled scallops Greek style in a tomato broth with peppers and onions. It was different and delicious. So was the blueberry pie. Also a bit different. Tons of blueberries, not much filling, homemade crust, and covered in whipped cream. Not too sweet and worth eating!

Took a small road trip up here from Quincy (with a visiting friend) to view the Portland Head Lighthouse (as well as Portland). I believe it was TripAdvisor that lead us to this restaurant. The place is very cute, and the menu was pretty expansive for the small place that it is. We all got sandwiches and were happy with them. My only complaint is the cranberry chutney (or whatever it is) in the grilled turkey sandwich. It wasn't very good!! I still ate the whole thing though. :) We also got the peach and blueberry cobbler. Our friend is from the DC area so she HAD to have a taste of Maine blueberries. :) The cobbler was delish but it had more peaches than blueberries. Whatevz, it was still delish. The servers were quite nice and attentive. The restaurant is clean. The bathrooms are clean. It was easy to get there from the lighthouse. If we ever take a road trip to explore more of Cape Liz, we will come back!!!! PS If you like lobstah (I don't- I know, I live in New England and hate lobstah, how egregious...), the lobstah they serve comes from "the icy waters of Cape Elizabeth"- so you are really eating local!!!! I will post pictures later.

3.5 Stars. Surprisingly good meal and experience. Bar: Martinis were quite good, albeit a tad pricey given the location. Manhattan was not well-mixed, but decent. Very tasty bar snack. Dinner: Bruschetta was super fresh, although a dining companion found the oregano overwhelmed all other flavors. The salmon special and lobster Cobb salad were both very fresh, well-seasoned and certainly above-average. Fried Haddock bites were quite good; the homemade tartar was delicious. One food note: the menu + specials seemed a bit scattered. There was a Korean dish on special. The regular menu features a Greek section (Greek owners) plus traditional seafood dishes with a few other random items.Totally get the Greek owners thing - and adore Greek food. Always best to pick a theme and do it well. If they update the dining room ambiance (currently feels very old-school Maine - the tables and ceilings especially), this could be a 4 or 5 star spot.

I came here on a Sunday night and the service was really good. Cute location. I had the side salad - good dressing- and the ribs. The ribs were tasty and "fall off the bone". I was able to eat them without having to pick them up with my hands at all. ( I was iffy on ordering them as I was a job interview and didn't want to be messy.) The gem was the dessert- we had the armaratto choculate cake and the blueberry cheesecake. Divine.

I truly wish I could give this restaurant a good review. I live in Cape Elizabeth and there are very few options to choose from nearby for a quick easy bite. I have visited five times to give it a fair chance-breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The service has always been quite bad, but if I were happy with the food I could even overlook that, as irritating as it is. Here is the major problem-they advertise themselves as serving local, fresh, unique food prepared fresh. But if you actually ask them is the fish fresh or frozen, for example, the answer is 100% of the time: " I don't know", followed by "okay I'll go ask", followed by "frozen." The french fries and the onion rings are frozen from the bag - I asked. Don't market yourself as seasonal, fresh food if that's not really what you are. it's just not fair! I wish I had something different to report, as I like to support our local businesses and The Good Table has a perfect location. Huge disappointment for the locals.

I always forget about this little gem even though it's literally down the road from where I grew up! It's a little bit of a haul for folks who don't live in Cape Elizabeth, but it's well worth the trip! The waitstaff is always attentive and energetic, they'll tell you all about the specials even if you're seated within clear view of the specials board. They serve all 3 meals, but I highly suggest brunch!! I also suggest dinner. In conclusion, you can't really go wrong here. The owners are Greek, so there's some great greek food on the menu, but don't you worry, there's plenty of American comfort food to be had as well!! And for brunch, they make fresh cinnamon rolls loaded with frosting that are absolutely to die for if you get them fresh out of the oven. The cocktails are strong, Maine-centric, and most of all, delicious. I've never had a cocktail here I didn't like!

Overdressed salads. Dried out food. Plus overheard the servers bitching about cleaning tables. Bleh. If it wasn't for the captive audience on Cape Elizabeth, would they survive?

Really 3.5 stars. We were staying at the Inn by the Sea and came over here for breakfast. There is plenty of parking and a good amount of seating. The interior is clean but dated. The servers were pleasant and efficient. They ran out of the creme brulee special, but the waffle was very good. The corn beef hash was very good as well. The over easy eggs were cooked well. We will be coming back when we stay at the Inn again.

We stopped here for lunch as we were making our way from lighthouse to lighthouse along the coast, and it was really a treat. The ambiance is cozy, the service was great, and the food was simple but very good. I had the turkey sandwich and I was so excited when it was real, carved thanksgiving type turkey, not just deli meat. My husband had the lobster roll and enjoyed it as well. Great little spot to take a break and enjoy a quiet lunch.

The lobster roll and Greek salad were both tasty. Better than a diner - real homemade comfort food. Good for a lunch date or casual dinner.

Five stars for value and the baked goods! Although we did not have a chance to get the cinnamon rolls(only weekends), we did have the blueberries muffins and they were yummy!

This is a solid three star restaurant. Food was quite good, not great but better than most. I couldn't decide on three or four stars but comparing it to my favorite breakfast place, it's not quite as good. Went early on Sunday and were seated right away. Our server was nice and attentive. I ordered the Farmers Market Omelet which was spinach, feta and tomato. It was all very fresh, in fact, it was a thick egg omelet with fresh leaves of spinach (not cooked), fresh tomato(not cooked) and feta all sprinkled in the middle. I prefer to have my veggies cooked into the omelet or at least a quick cook so they aren't cold in the middle of the hot eggs but it was fine. Hubby got the breakfast burrito. He really enjoyed it. Our only real disappointment was the cinnamon roll. We ordered and after a few minutes were told there was a mishap with the rolls and they had to make new. No biggie except it never came. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes after we finished eating the rest of our breakfast, to get it. Took it home and it was still warm so we decided to give it a try. I split it open and was sad to see there was almost no cinnamon in the middle. It really was just roll. It is huge but I'd much prefer a smaller gooey roll. I guess it all boils down to personal preference. We would go back but only if we happen to be in the area.

If I could give them six stars, I would. Last summer my wife and I were visiting her sisters in Cape Elizabeth. The two of us stopped for lunch one day and their burger special appealed to me. It was a bacon burger with caramelized onions, bacon, and cheese, and sadly I don't remember what kind of cheese it was. I would hope that it's permanently enshrined on their menu, maybe we'll be back next year and I can find out. It was THE BEST burger that I have ever had. I'm not joking. I took one bite, then another. Then I made the preceding statement. My wife didn't believe me until I gave it to her and she took a couple of bites. She agreed. I like good burgers. I've had a lot of them from a lot of restaurants around the country, and I've had a lot of good ones. I've eaten the green chile burger that beat Bobby Flay in one of his Throwdowns (I was not impressed). And this burger at Good Table just blew me away. The meat was perfectly seasoned, a very common mistake in far too many restaurants, the caramelized onions were wonderfully sweet. It was an absolutely perfect combination of flavors and cooking. This burger is now my standard candle for comparing any other burger against (a reference for astronomers).

Great food, great atmosphere. My wife, father-in-law Lorenzo, and I went out here before visiting Two Lights and Kettle Cove. I had the market omelet, apparently a changing special. That day's was fresh tomatoes, spinach, and feta. Very fresh and good! Lorenzo got the corned beef hash (made in-house) and eggs and my wife got Jose's veggie burrito. Both were enjoyed greatly. Apparently that day there were also several blueberry specialties on hand (including a blueberry wing sauce on the specials board), though we didn't have any. Aside from the view, the interior is also well-decorated, very homey appearance. Especially in the bathroom! Like a friggin' library, the men's; the women's is filled with hats. Hats. We ate in the back, in a screened in patio sort of room. It was great eating right by the woodsy area, but perhaps they should do something to prune the hedges and make it look a bit neater. Plant some flowering bushes, maybe. Nevertheless, the good tables (ha!) at Good Table are the ones in that room.

We came here for breakfast, and it was ok. The service was super friendly, but the food was just 'meh.' My husband ordered the lobster beni and wasn't impressed. We both thought the mimosas tasted a little off. Wasn't horrible, but wasn't good enough to make us want to come back.

I've been here twice. The first time was lovely, and my husband and I found ourselves back a second time. This time, not so lovely. I immediately stumped my waitress with the very difficult question of, what comes in the veggie burrito? She looked both baffled and irritated by the question, not even offering to find out. Thanks. So I order a breakfast with a description, and it turns out to be just a bland canvas for ketchup. Great. My fruit cup was topped with a mushy strawberry that had a small bit of white on it ( mold? i couldn't quite tell). Oh, and my coffee came to me in a cup COVERED in something chunky and orange. I felt like I could have gone to a diner, spent half as much on breakfast, and enjoyed it more. Way more.

Let's start with the ginger blueberry martini. Then the mussels - we tried two different types, and the spicy ones were definitely outstanding, although the plainer ones were still yummy. Lobster cobb salad was excellent. The scallops melted in your mouth. We had a baby with us, and they were very accommodating. Luckily we got there very early because the place was packed when we left.

This was a pleasant surprise. I looked on Yelp for something new for breakfast and this had good reviews. I started with a orange cranberry muffin. It was moist & full of flavor. I got a glimpse of the cinnamon rolls which were huge and could of fed 4 people. They had so many specials I had a hard time deciding what to order. I settled on Greek scramble. The service was Excellent. I will be back.

The best clam chowder ever. Not the over milked over cooked junk you are used to. Tons of clams, perfect potatoes and just awesome. Then a blueberry pie that is crazy over the top!!!! Staff is a delight. You would be nuts not to eat here. A+++++

I stopped in as I was driving around the area. I travel to the Portland area often for work and am always looking for a different place to eat. I was attracted by the unassuming building and sign. I sat at the bar as I usually o when by myself. I ordered a scotch and asked for a menu. Unfortunately, they only offer appetizers at the bar. It was a bit disappointing, but it was a long day so I stayed at the bar. I had the Brussel sprout salad and lava shrimp. Both were very tasty, but did not satisfy my hunger. There were two very annoying local women sitting at he bar. They whispered for some reason. I guess they felt only they should be there and I was in their way. Or maybe I smelled bad. Who knows? Anyway, it was more expensive than is listed on yelp. I will try it gain, it i will sit at a table so hey will permit me to have an entree.

The best blueberry pie I have ever had and I didn't even like blueberry pie before this. The blueberries were so fresh that the skin was firm the the exploded in your mouth. It was sublime. I also had a spinach salad with blueberries and almonds. I cannot believe the difference that the fresh blueberries made. The waitress said that it was the first batch of blueberries of the season. She said to come back during apple season because the apple pie is also amazing. I live in Miami but wish I could!

The good table is okay. I would eat here again, for sure. Their food just misses the mark of being great, and with a little more effort it could be just that. It's consistent though, and comfort food! My hot turkey sandwich was tasty, but could've been Hotter. My boyfriends Rachel sandwich could've been hotter as well, and the pastrami wasn't as juicy as it could've been. If they'd heated it up more it would've been all it needed to be better. Their fries are okay and their daily specials sounded ok but we wanted to try some standard menu items. Theyndisplay their desserts out at room temperature and under covers around the restaurant which is kind of strange to me but oh well, I can get past that! Overall it was OK and I would go back.

We had some friends up from Boston and we decided to try out the Good Table last weekend for brunch. Upon entering we realized that we had drastically decreased the median age of the diners. This wasn't a bad thing though and the food ended up being really good. We got one of the cinnamon buns to start. It was HUGE and delicious. I had the hash which was definitely home made and not too heavy, very good. Others had the eggs benedict with Salmon which was delicious. The food is really good and uncomplicated, also a very friendly wait staff. Definitely a good brunch spot if you don't feel like dealing with the crowds in Portland.

I guess if they have to do a lousy job, they did it all at once. Our experience was awful and continued after I got the credit card bill in the mail. Our visit did not match the happy reports I've read on yelp. They have Big Time Communications Issues - staff to kitchen to guests. Maybe if you're a twosome it can be a good experience but they can't handle groups. My wife didn't get what she ordered, her dessert was 'commandeered' (waitress' term - she was TOLD to give it to someone else) and we were billed for dessert and tea that we never received. A discussion at the cashier had it removed from the bill. They verified the new dollar amount and I asked twice if they were sure that was the final amount. They affirmed it was so BUT then ADDED MONEY BACK IN after we left. I had to call the credit card company to get resolution because the owner never called me back - I had left a message with the staff. Oops - must be that communication issue again. Lots of better choices in the Portland area. Places without funny stuff going on. There is NEVER an excuse to change the total bill after a guest has signed off and left. They should have contacted me. I won't trust my evening to them again. #FAIL

The Good Table is my first choice for breakfast around Portland. The menu is large, diverse and often has some creative specials. Their cinnamon rolls are great, especially when right out of the oven. I've been to lunch a few times and the food is good, but I definitely think their strength is breakfast. The place feels homey and Lisa, the owner, is very friendly. Skip the Portland breakfast spots next time and take a drive to Cape Elizabeth. A nice before or after breakfast activity during the fall/winter/spring is a walk around Crescent Beach State Park (less then 5 minutes from the Good Table).

We found Good Table after visiting the Portland Head Light through Yelp. We had brunch on a sunday morning, saw a lot of cars in the parking lot so figured that was a good sign. Were pleasantly greeted on the way in, started off with a fresh and hot cinnamon bun, delicious. Followed by Lobster Eggs Benny and Veggie Scramble. Highly recommended!

We live in Maine and have been frequent loyal year-round customers for over four years. The food has always been very good and the service has been superb. This evening, we arranged to meet our daughter there. We arrived a bit early and were greeted by the owner. She said "Two for dinner?" We replied that our daughter would join us in 5 or ten minutes. The owner told us she would not seat us until the third person arrived. We could sit at the bar or wait. I have never had a reaction like that at any other restaurant. I don't know whether she thought we were lying or she didn't want to take the chance of losing an extra meal. Either way, that is not the way to show customers that you value them. This attitude on the owner's part has lost them regular customers. We will never return to the Good Table. We will also let our friends know. We were also surprised at the meals. We ordered fried Maine shrimp and fried clams. In both cases, the quantities served were minimal. The shrimp were not only few but also tiny. Maine shrimp are much smaller than other shrimp but these were tiny. The service was reasonable but not the quality we are used to. There are just too many excellent restaurants in the Portland area to return to one where loyal customers are treated in this way.

Do not order the lobster roll. When I bit ito it I was chewing on something hard. I was chewing on cartlidge. I told the waitress and the response was that is how you know it is fresh lobster. I winded up not eating because when I tried the second half of sandwich the same think happened.

Nothing is nicer than an 'exceeds expectations' event. My friend and I stopped in for dinner the other night, having lost the motivation to schlep ourselves back into Portland for a bone fide foodie experience. I had read positive things about the Good Table but wasn't expecting it to be as interesting or as good as it was. The restaurant is quite pleasant and comfortable. Not dressed up but very nice. The fact that all the waitstaff were all attractive young women didn't hurt either, but the food was what it was really about. Mussels in red curry sauce were so good that my friend ordered a second appetizer instead of a dinner. In the first round we had ordered half and half 'irish' and the red curry mussels. Both were delicious. My dinner, a massive 'double thick' grilled pork chop was simply and skillfully prepared. As advertised, it had been brined, and brining is something that gets a lot of foodies all excited. But I guess brining just isn't my thing. Be that as it may, the meal was great and withstood my quibbles about the pork very nicely. Dessert was a very nice apple pie with a crumble topping (how come mine never crumbles like that?) and cinnamon ice cream. I tend to be skittish in restaurants about 1) pies in general, 2) any claims of fresh apples, and 3) desserts that include icre cream. Trusting my instincts, I ordered the pie based on a feeling that the usual complaints wouldnt apply here. I was right and it was delightful. We also had a pleasant time chatting with Lisa, the owner and manager. Surviving 20 something years and maintaining the kind of quality operation she has at the Good Table is no minor accomplishment. It takes constant hard work and fresh ideas. Kudos to her!

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday. It was busy but we didn't wait for a seat. The food was excellent but the service was terrible. They had warm cinnamon buns coming out of the oven (plus banana nut muffins) and the menu had plenty of options. I got the eggs benedict, which was made with quality ingredients, albeit VERY salty (doesn't bother me but may bother others). One of the eggs was over-poached, but whatever. Good home fries too. Unfortunately there were several people helping us - a hostess who didn't bring us our water and another girl who brought us two sets of silverware (there were 3 of us). We had a third person as our waitress - she was okay though not very friendly/concerned with us. Nobody was rude, sort of an odd system. I'd go back for the food though, it was definitely worth it.

I cannot speak to the food, but when we called to make a reservation for 5 people (our intimate wedding party), they wouldn't do it because they do not make reservations for a party under 8, even for a wedding. I am glad they refused. My wedding day is special and I see from some reviews that the service and food leave something to be desired. Just the fact they wouldn't make an exception for a wedding party of 5, speaks volumes to their willingness to accommodate their guests.

I was a little disapointed with The Good Table. I had a work lunch and although the place oozes charm and cuteness, it was very lacking in the warmth department on a cool February afternoon. I am generally warm, so when I am cold in a place, I have to think that everyone is freezing. The heat slowly came on, but it was never actually warm. On the food front, things were OK, not great. I wanted to like it, but had an average Reuben that suffered from the dreaded soggy bottom bread syndrome that seems so common now with sandwhiches. If I can't eat a sandwhich that is intended to be hand held with my hands, it pretty much fails, The pastrami was taty but the rest was just average. Sweet Potato fries that were extra seemed suspicously similar to the frozen ones from Costco. Would I go back, maybe to try the dinner menu, but my lunch experience left me cold, both literally and figuratively.

My boyfriend and I spent some time at the Inn By The Sea in Cape Elizabeth. Each time we drove into Portland, we passed The Good Table and commented on how cute it looked and that we should definitely check it out. Well, finally on the last morning of our stay, we stopped in for breakfast. So happy that we did!!! We got one of the MASSIVE cinnamon buns to start...melt in your mouth, wish I was eating it now...incredible. For the main meal, my boyfriend got the corned beef hash breakfast and fresh squeezed orange juice, which was awesome. My breakfast was a bit more on the tame side, with an egg-white Greek omelet, but still extremely tasty. I think my favorite part was the home fries. There were large chunks of sweet potato mixed in, soooooooooo good! Great atmosphere, great food, great value. We will definitely be back!

After a long day of touring Southern Maine by car, we stumbled upon The Good Table on our way back home. What a pleasant surprise, it was Sunday so they had switched to the dinner menu at 2pm. I had butternut squash soup and a lobster Cobb salad. Both delicious. My Mom had a burger and fries. Also good. Deserts was cinnamon ice cream, homemade apple cobbler and home made carrot cake. Also all decadently good. Service was attentive and friendly. All in all a great choice with room to breath on the porch, watching the birds.

This should be 4.5, the only fault was one of the desserts. The menu is small but varied, something for everyone. Plus with the specials it turns out to be well rounded choices. We started with the special spare rib wontons with spicy hot and sour sauce. Excellent. Fried to perfection and the sauce was out of this world. I had the clam chowder which was not what i expected. Usually clam chowder is very thick and this was just the opposite. I was ready to be disappointed. The soup was fantastic, with a hint of smokey flavor, bacon, lots of clams and potatoes, and other things I couldn't name. I had the fried haddock which again was fried to perfection. Lightly fried with just a light layer of breading. My wife had the rib eye which was also cooked to perfection. The kids had hamburger and chicken tenders which they enjoyed. They ate every bite. The french fries where very good as where the thin cut onion rings that came with her steak. Dinner for 2 adults 2 kids drinks apps dessert $100 plus tip. You can not go wrong here. Also, the owner passed through a couple of times to say hello to everyone and ask about the meals.

This is such a wonderful place. It feels truly like a family establishment, not one that is trying to put on that vibe, but one that actually is. The breakfast is what drew me in in the first place. Totally classic menu with some interesting twists. Amazing cinnamon rolls. Good variations on the eggs benedict theme and always plentiful coffee. Its always pleasantly crowded but I have never once had to wait for a table. The dinner is just simple New England coastal fare done really really well. I have only been once for dinner but had a haddock sandwich that made everthing seem right with the world.

The Good Table is GREAT! Phoned ahead for a party of 9 for an early dinner reservation and got a table without any problem. Lucky we made the call because when we got there the place was getting full. We were seated on the back porch which was the best seat in the house on a cool Maine evening. Had ribs for an appetizer and lobster pasta for the main course. Service was friendly and efficient. Couldn't have asked for a better evening.

My wife and I had a great dinner onThursday the 24th of April. Our appetizer of a roasted garlic head with Brie and a side of olives and some crusty bread and was delicious and for the main course I had baked scallops, done just right. Two thumbs up if you are in Cape Elizabeth and are hungry.

We come here when we are on vacation and I always get the salmon, it seems they have a special whenever I have been there. The price can't be beat for what you get...you get this great bread with dipping oil and a small container of olives (I think the owner is Greek)..the salads are great and the portions are good sized. The owner rattles off all the specials and they all sound fab! And they have homemade dessert! There is an enclosed porch with lights strung up..great atmosphere. The place is always busy. They seem to have alot of seafood specials and they are also open for breakfast and lunch. You won't be disappointed.

I LOVE the Good Table. During the summer, it was the only place I wanted to eat at. They have great specials and of course, fresh Maine lobsters, my personal favorite. Everything here is so delicious. The price is also very awesome for the portions and quality of your entrees. I can't wait for summer again where I'll come here to eat after a day at the beach.

Were staying at the Inn by the Sea for a long weekend and drove by this restaurant several times as we drove to Portland to dine. After seeing the reviews here on yelp, and how packed this restaurant was one evening (parking overflowed onto the street) we decided to give it a try for breakfast We were greeted by (the owner?) who was very gracious and recited about 10 breakfast specials from creme brulee french toast to eggs Benedict with lobster or salmon. Then she mentioned the CINNAMON ROLLS as a pan of them were brought out from the kitchen. We knew we needed to act quickly! Patrons were ordering them and even having them packed to go!. They are huge- oversized and drenched in glaze. OMG! The three of us shared one with coffee prior to our breakfast. I cant even describe how good they are! Our breakfasts- omelets with homefries and toast were delicious as well. They close early on Sundays and are closed on Mondays. Our only disappointment was that we could not have dinner here as we were leaving the area on Monday. Wished we stopped here sooner.
